I am a documentary photographer based in Mola di Bari, in the south of Italy. A place where light is unforgiving, people are direct, and traditions hold on with quiet stubbornness. It shaped the way I see before any school or mentor could.
For eighteen years I have built long-term documentary projects around communities and cultures at risk of disappearing — fishermen, religious rituals, people living at the margins of a world that moves too fast to notice them. My work is not about capturing a moment. It is about earning the trust to be there when it happens.
My practice was formed through the Magnum Foundation Educational Program, where I worked alongside Bruce Gilden, Martin Parr, Peter van Agtmael and Mark Power. My approach to documentary photography was shaped under the mentorship of Valerio Bispuri, one of Italy's most recognised documentary photographers working internationally.
I believe a photograph is not constructed — it is earned. With time, with presence, with the trust of the people in front of you. That principle has guided every project I have worked on, and it is the only way I know how to work.
