Joe Pansa’s musical journey began in the late 1990s with rap, developing over the years through different genres, languages and forms of expression. What began within hip hop gradually expanded towards funk, folk and songwriting, leading to a more personal and experimental approach to music.
Music has always developed alongside his wider artistic practice, sharing with photography, video, performance and visual art an interest in storytelling, everyday life and personal experience. Rather than following a single genre or a fixed musical identity, his work has moved through different forms and collaborations, reflecting the same multidisciplinary approach that characterises his artistic research.
His discography includes early rap recordings and releases such as Pansa’s Restaurant and Inediti e vecchie storie rap (2003), followed by songs and collaborations developed throughout the following years. His work has also incorporated elements of local language and culture, as in Ù sè cià fè?, Me pere nù rennèle and Kazzakius (Acustic), alongside more recent songwriting-oriented work.
In 2022 he released A due passi dal mondo reale, an EP containing six original tracks, including collaborations with Zekka and Noemi Isabella Acquatico. The record brings together different moments and influences of his musical research, continuing the movement between rap, songwriting and more intimate forms of expression.
His musical practice has also extended into audiovisual production. Music videos and filmed performances have become a space where sound and image meet, connecting his work as a musician with his practice as a photographer and filmmaker. He has also worked on audiovisual productions for other musicians, including filming and editing live recording sessions.
Music remains one of the threads running through Joe Pansa’s wider artistic journey: a field in which words, rhythm, voice, image and performance can coexist and continually change form.
This page presents a selection of music videos and audiovisual works related to his musical practice. Further recordings, releases and projects will be added over time.
